New Uzin Utz Business Unit offers industrial adhesive and system solutions for transport, shipbuilding and modular manufacturing

Uzin Utz, a global full-service provider of flooring systems for professional installers, is expanding into the industrial sector with its Industry Business Unit. As a specialised development partner, Uzin Utz Industry offers adhesive and system solutions that make industrial applications more efficient and safer. The focus is not on individual products, but on integrated solutions for specific interior applications in buses and trains, ships, commercial vehicles and the aviation industry. The Business Unit presented itself to potential business partners for the first time at SMM and InnoTrans.

The new Industry Business Unit has been established as an independent unit within the Uzin Utz Group. It currently operates worldwide with six Key Account Managers and a team of twelve employees. "Our aim is not only to supply industrial companies with adhesives, but to work with them to develop the right bonding solution for their processes," explains Philipp Utz, a member of the Executive Board of Uzin Utz SE, outlining the new business unit's objective. "To achieve this, we combine our decades of adhesive expertise and experience in the professional installation trade with a consistent focus on industrial requirements in interior construction, for example when bonding floor, ceiling and wall elements in cabins for ships, trains and buses. In this way, we aim to help simplify processes, increase productivity and create new opportunities for industrial bonding." Uzin Utz Industry is clearly distinct from the traditional Uzin business. While UZIN provides professional systems for installing screeds and flooring in the trade sector, Uzin Utz Industry targets industrial manufacturers and their production processes.

 

Adhesive technology as part of industrial processes

In many industries, bonding plays an important technological role. Uzin Utz Industry builds on this and considers the entire application from the materials used and the technical requirements, through assembly and cycle times, to process reliability, service life and recyclability. On this basis, Uzin Utz develops customised, process-integrated adhesive and system solutions that can be incorporated into existing production and assembly workflows.

"Our approach is to develop solutions in partnership, tailored to the requirements of each application. With our three competence centres for wet adhesives in Ulm, dry adhesives in Sursee (Switzerland) and coatings in Würzburg, we bring together comprehensive solution expertise for new industrial applications," says Daniel Frehner, Head of the Business Unit Industry at Uzin Utz. The portfolio includes numerous existing wet and adhesive tape technologies adapted for industrial applications involving floor coverings, raised floors, skirting boards and profiles. These are used in ship and vehicle interiors as well as in modular construction. The range also includes customised system solutions that can be integrated in-line into manufacturing processes and production facilities. Depending on the application, immediately walkable or reversible bonding solutions may also be used.

Focus on transport and manufacturing – launch at SMM and InnoTrans

The main target groups include industrial manufacturers and suppliers seeking to integrate bonding processes into their production. One focus is cabin builders and interior fit-out specialists in the transport sector, particularly in buses, railways, commercial vehicles, and shipping. In the longer term, aviation is also a potential business area. The portfolio also targets manufacturers of floor coverings, raised floors, skirting boards and profiles, as well as companies involved in modular construction, prefabrication and industrial manufacturing.

At the international trade fairs SMM in Hamburg and InnoTrans in Berlin, Uzin Utz Industry presented the Business Unit's expertise in transport and maritime interiors for the first time. The joint appearance with carpet manufacturer DAS TEPPICHWERK at SMM demonstrated the holistic approach: alongside textile floor coverings, Uzin Utz Industry contributed the appropriate adhesive and system solutions. This creates a coordinated solution extending from the floor covering to a safe, efficient and, where required, reversible bond.
