MAKE THE ECO2 CHOICE
Our sustainability label for our brands
With the ECO2 CHOICE label, UZIN UTZ is committed to reducing CO2 emissions. Our brands UZIN, PALLMANN, codex and Arturo now have products that include a proportion of raw materials made from bio-based origins. Compared to fossil fuels alone, the combination of renewable resources and fossil fuels significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
In this way, UZIN UTZ supports the EU member states aim to become climate-neutral by 2050 and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 compared to 1990.
WHAT DOES THE ECO2 CHOICE LABEL STAND FOR
- Reduced CO2 footprint - using sustainable raw materials such as biomass-based raw materials reduces the CO2 footprint of the products.
- Product-specific calculations - by using lifecycle analysis software, specific measures of the CO2 footprint can be determined.
- Transparency - individual product CO2 values and corresponding comparisons are available on the product links below.
- Consistent quality - the awarded products have the same application properties and quality.
Background
Within the ECO2 CHOICE label, the environmental impact of the products is represented by the partial product carbon footprint (PCF). This covers all life cycle stages from the provision of raw materials to the point at which the product leaves our production site (cradle to gate). The calculation methodology of the CO2 footprint is based on the ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 standards. This may result in deviations from the values of an EPD (according to EN 15804). Both secondary and primary data are used in the calculations.
In general, life cycle analyses are subject to uncertainties, so the results can vary. We are constantly working on optimizing the specificity and data quality of our calculations to ensure the best possible informative value. For this reason, the values communicated are continuously updated in accordance with the current state of knowledge of the methodology and the underlying processes.
